Statistics,
without fear.
Stats Without Fear is being built: a complete introductory statistics course — video lessons, fully worked examples and guided practice — that explains every idea calmly, in plain language, one step at a time.
What is being built
Three things, in this order: the lessons, the examples, and the practice. Nothing here is finished yet — this page shows the plan honestly.
How every lesson works
The same four steps, every time, so you always know where you are.
Five languages, one course
This site is published in English, Spanish, Portuguese and Italian — plus Mandarin Chinese, one of the most spoken languages in the world. Switch any time; the page you are on stays the same.
Lessons will be published first in English and Spanish; the other languages follow.
Where the project stands
About Stats Without Fear
Why this project exists, and who is building it.
Statistics has a reputation problem. Many students meet it as a wall of formulas in a textbook, taught fast, and conclude they are “not math people”. Usually the problem is not the student — it is the order and the pace. Ideas that look frightening as formulas are often simple when you see them first as pictures and everyday questions.
Stats Without Fear is a learning project built on that belief: intuition first, formula second, practice always. Each topic starts with a real question — Is this result surprising? How sure are we? What would we expect by chance? — and only then introduces the mathematics that answers it.
The course follows the standard introductory statistics curriculum used in colleges — the same path as Mario Triola’s widely used Elementary Statistics — from describing data, through probability, to confidence intervals and hypothesis testing. The first home of the lessons is the Stats Without Fear YouTube channel; this website will hold the course outline, study guides and practice material.
